All high alpine ecosystems rely on fire as a cleansing mechanism, relieving the forest floor of dead wood and pine needles so new growth can continue. Since we choose to build our homes and communities within these beautiful forests, we need to be FireWise and understand how to protect our interests while also looking after the health of the forest.

Check out the pictures from the community clean-up day of 2020!

One of our full-time residents, Joe Stehling, has been working tirelessly for many years to establish and update the FireWise protocols at Hidden Lake. In 2015 we received a grant from the state to thin many acres of overgrown forest around Hidden Lake. In 2016 we purchased a Burn Boss to help eliminate the resultant slash from the thinning effort. Going forward, the Burn Boss will be available to property owners by request.
